IMFAHE Seminars

Leading and cutting edge career paths in biomedicine, engineering and economics are explored in-depth by interviews professionals in mid and senior stages of their careers. Seminars consist of a short interview (aprox. 30 minutes) explaining how is their day by day, pros and cons of their job, and how they achieved those positions.  

 

IMFAHE has created 30 online seminars about career options and professional development. On December 15, 2017, the first 15 online seminars were launched (5 per specialty). All the webinars are available at IMFAHE connects. This is the summary of seminars launched in 2017:

Study Abroad section:

  • Fulbright FellowshipsThe Executive Director of the Fulbright Spain Commission, Mr. Alberto López, and the academic advisor, Ms. Katherine Matles, bring us the history of the Fulbright Commission, examples of illustrious people who have received these prestigious scholarships, as well as the criteria to take into account if you want to apply to this prestigious fellowship (seminar in Spanish).
  • Project Access: Natalia Pérez Campanero, PhD student at the University of Oxford and Director of Project Access Spain, presents a project that facilitates and helps those students who wish to carry out part of their training at an international university (seminar in Spanish).

IMP-Biomedicine

  • Biotechnological Entrepreneurship: Professor Jonathan Thon of the BWH / Harvard Medical School, explains his career path and how he ended up founding the biotech start-up Platelets Biogenesis (seminar in English).
  • International Digital Marketing: Marta Travieso, explains how day-to-day is at the multinational Bristol Myers in Switzerland, and how is working in digital marketing (seminar in English).
  • Return to Spain in academia: Dr. Joan Montero, explains how he has been able to build an exceptional CV in the US, and things that should be taken into account if you want to carry out a round trip, as a scientist (seminar in English).

IMP-Engineering

 

  • Entrepreneurship in engineering: The entrepreneur Rebeca Minguela, explains how she has founded several start ups (one of them bought by the giant Groupon), and how is being recognized as one of the Young World Leader by the World Economic Forum (seminar in Spanish).
  • Research in Google: Dr. Carlos Riquelme explains how is working as a researcher at  Google and how he was able to get there (seminar in English).
  • European Patent Office: Dr. Marco del Rey explains how this field is evolving, how to get to work in a patent office, and merits that are taken into account (seminar in English).
  • Big Data: Olmo Vázquez, founder of Mirai ALM Advisory and BI Geek, explains his professional career and talks about topics such as business intelligence and big data (seminar in English).

IMP-Economics/Entrepreneurship

 

  • Entrepreneurship and innovation: Hasier Larrea (Founder and CEO MophLab), explains how to go from an idea/concept to founding a company. His work has been published, among other media, by the New York Times, Time, Fast Company, Wired or Tech Crunch. (seminar in Spanish).
  • International Digital Marketing: Marta Travieso, explains how day-to-day is at the multinational Bristol Myers in Switzerland, and how is working in digital marketing (seminar in English).
  • Big Data: Olmo Vázquez, founder of Mirai ALM Advisory and BI Geek, explains his professional career and talks about topics such as business intelligence and big data (seminar in English).
