Gemma Pellissa Prades, PhD.

Gemma Pellissa Prades holds a PhD in Catalan Language and Literature awarded by the Universitat de Barcelona (2013) for her dissertation about Catalan sentimental romance in the fifteenth century, for which she has received an honorable mention in the Cum Laude Award 2014 of the Institut Mon Juïc. She is currently a Beatriu de Pinós Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of the Classics at Harvard, a researcher of the Institute for Research on Medieval Cultures, a member of the research group ‘Culture and Literature in the Late Middle Ages’ and of the project ‘Digital Corpus of Medieval Catalan Texts’ (CODITECAM). Moreover, she is carrying out a postdoctoral project that aims to offer the first edition of the Catalan translation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses by Francesc Alegre at the end of the fifteenth century. She is the main author of academic papers in Walter de Gruyter, Brepols, Peter Lang and PAMSA and she has co-authored a book entitled Francesc Alegre. Obres menors with Pere Bescós Prat and Daniel Álvarez, which is soon-to-be-published by Barcino.
In 2011, she cofounded the interdisciplinary association for PhD candidates ARDIT Medieval Cultures, in which she has undertaken the roles of Secretary and member of the Executive Board. She is also the coordinator of the first Massive Open Online Course offered by the Universitat de Barcelona in Coursera, which is entitled Magic in the Middle Ages. Additionally, she is a mentor in the Mentoring Program of Harvard Graduate Women in Science and Engineering and has experience as a university lecturer. She has developed her international career in the USA, the UK and Italy.
